I began painting 10
years ago after an illness forced me to look at my life style.
To relax, I took my first tole painting lesson and I was
hooked! By taking classes 4 times a week and attending every
seminar I could find, my artistic talent blossomed (literally
as I love to paint flowers!). I have an identical twin sister
who has her masters in art, and I thought she had grabbed all
the artistic talent "in utero"....but evidently she
left some for me! Coming up with a name for my business was
easy. The grandchildren call me "Precious" - so
PRECIOUS ART it is.

My very first piece
- I worked day and night on it to finish it in the three weeks
alotted in class. I love this piece and keep it hanging on my
wall to remind me of my humble beginnings....

This was the 4th project that I attempted. I treasure my
first pieces. I do paint the same pattern today and they are
so superior to this one as I know what I am doing now! This
piece is an 11" X 11" wooden box with an adorable
Santa tree on the top. The sides have a checkerboard pattern.
|
This piece was painted at my very first seminar with Deanne
Fortnam. I have taken many classes since then so I am always
learning.I really like her style of painting, the colors she
uses and the realistic look. The blueberries on this little
box look good enough to eat!
|
This is another Deanne Fortnam design. The rose
looks like it was just picked and the water drops are painted
on it! This is a heart shaped tin box with a wooden lid. I
have painted this rose many times and in different colors too.
|
Here is another Deanne Fortnam pattern - a strokework
design. It is painted on a wooden box here, but I have also
painted this design on "Memory Boxes" that I donate
to the hospitals. They in turn give them to parents whose
infant has died.
Deanne is one of my very favorite teachers. You can see why I
love each and every one of them. I take great pride in my work
and they are real heirlooms!

Many years ago I painted this piece with Arlene Newman. I have
painted it on big and small boxes, signs, key
holders...whatever. This is a very simple but pleasing piece.

Living at the shore, I do lots of seascapes.

These are painted on
the walls of small condominiums. By using mirrors also, it
gives the illusion of sitting on the beach with the ocean all
around you. These are absolutely magnificent!

September 11 is a date we will always remember. This is a
Karen Johnston pattern and I think it says it all. By the way,
Karen is a Canadian. This pin is one I paint all the time. I
paint it as a pin or as a magnet. I wear my own pin all the
time.
|
You really can't see the detail on this box, but it has teeny
tiny roses painted on it. It looks like it is on a lace doily,
but the lace is painted on also. I enjoy doing this meticulous
work. I know...I am a glutton for punishment.
|
These hydrangeas are painted on a firescreen. I paint
hydrangeas on many different projects as they can be almost
any color or size...and they look well no matter where you
paint them.
|
This mirror is a Ros Stallcup pattern. You can't see all
the detail but it is lovely. The roses look lifelike, and the
ribbon looks so real. I have painted these roses and ribbons
on bride's boxes and on small trinket boxes. They make
beautiful presents.

I seem to paint
more Christmas projects than anything else.
These
pictures also will be added shortly
