New Sign Ordinance for Ocean City, NJ   

  • No more than 3 square feet of signage per unit - either one large sign or strip signs but not more than 3 feet total
  • It is the responsibility of the OWNER and the agency to insure compliance with the 3 square feet per unit rule. Give the agents written permission to place signs on your property
  • The police will enforce ordinance compliance, therefore a summons can be written
  • All real estate agencies that have signs on a non-compliant property will be fined. Fines will begin at $125.00 and move up to not more than $1,250 and/or imprisonment not to exceed 30 days
  • Signs shall be attached to the unit or parallel to and within 1 foot of the building and facing the street
  • Open lot signs must be placed in the middle of the lot parallel to the street
  • New construction sale signs may be attached to the temporary utility pole along with one construction company sign- each to be limited to 3 square feet
  • It is recommended that For Sale signs take precedence over rental signs
